இவரது தந்தை Lee Hoi - Chuen, ஒரு நடிகர். தாய் பெயர் Grace.தந்தை நடிகர் என்பதால் லீக்கும் சிறுயவயதிலேயே நடிப்பதற்கு வாய்ப்புக்கிடைத்தது.சிறியவயதில் 12 வயதிற்குள் 20 படங்கள் வரை நடித்துள்ளார்.சில தொலைக்காட்சித்தொடர்களிலும் நடித்துள்ளார்.1971இல் இவரது முதலாவது படம் வெளிவந்தது பிக் பாஸ் முதலாளிகளுக்கும் தொழிலாளிகளுக்கும் இடையே நடக்கும் போர் தொடர்பான கதை.ஊரில் இருந்து வேலைக்கு வரும் புரூஸ் லீ வேலை தளத்தில் நடக்கும் அநியாயங்களை தட்டிக்கேட்கின்றார்.இந்தக்கதையை எங்கேயோ கேட்டது மாதிரி இல்லையா? பல படங்களில் இந்தக்கதை வந்துள்ளது.
புரூஸ்லீயின் குடும்பம் லீக்கு பெண்ணின் பெயரைத்தான் சூட்டினார்கள்.அவர்கள் Sai Fon/Little Phoenix என அழைத்தார்கள்.லீ பிறப்பதற்கு முன்னர் பிறந்த ஆண் குழந்தை இறந்துவிட்டது இதனால் லீயின் பெற்றோர் தமது குடும்பத்தில் ஆண்கள் பிறத்தலை கடவுள் அனுமதிக்கவில்லை என நம்பினார்கள் இதனால் லீ ஆணாகப்பிறந்தபோதிலும் பெண்ணின் பெயரையே சூட்டினார்கள்.
புரூஸ் என்ற பெயர் San Francisco வில் உள்ள Jackson Street Hospital இல் பணிபுரிந்த நேர்ஸினால் சூட்டப்பட்டது லீ அங்குதான் பிறந்தார்.அமெரிக்க பெயரைச்சூட்டினால் பேர்த் சேர்ட்டிபிக்கெட்டில் வேறு கோளாறுகள் வராது என்பதன் காரணமாகவே இப்பெயரைச்சூட்டினார்.புரூஸ்லி உண்மையில் சைனாவை சேர்ந்தவரும் அல்ல.இவரது தாயின் தகப்பனார் ஜேர்மனியை சேர்ந்தவர்.
லீ தனது ஆரம்ப கல்வியை முடித்ததும் ஆங்கிலத்தில் பாடங்களைக்கற்பிக்கும் La Salle College இல் சேர்க்கப்பட்டார்.ஆனால் அங்கு இவரின் முரட்டுத்தனமான நடவடிக்கை காரணமாக வெளியேற்றப்பட்டார்.லீயின் பெற்றோர் லீயை வேறு பாடசாலைக்கு மாற்றினார்கள் ஆனால் லீ வீதியில் வெட்டிச்சண்டைகளில் ஈடுபட்டுக்கொண்டிருந்தார்.
புரூஸ்லீக்கு Wing Chun என்ற தற்காப்புக்கலையை கற்றுக்கொடுத்தவர் Yip Man.புரூஸ் லீயின் குரு Yip Man பற்றி அறிவதற்கு இங்கே கிளிக்.
13 வயதில் இவர் தற்காப்புக்கலையைக்கற்க சென்றார்.இவர் சைனிஸ் இல்லை என்று தெரிந்ததும் மாணவர்கள் இவரை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளவில்லை.இதனால் யிப் மான் லீக்கு தனியாக வகுப்பெடுத்தார்.
புரூஸ்லீ தற்காப்புக்கலையில் சிறந்தவர் ஆனால் அதில் மட்டும்தான் திறமையானவர் என்று நினைத்தால் அது தவறு.லீ திறமையான டான்ஸ்சர் நடனத்திற்கான Hong Kong Cha Cha Championship ஐ 1958 இல் வென்றிருக்கின்றார்.அத்துடன் லீக்கு பொக்ஸிங்கும் தெரியும் அதே ஆண்டில் Boxing Championship ஐயும் வென்றிருக்கின்றார்.இவற்றின் மூலம் உங்களுக்கு லீ ஒரு முரடர் என்ற தோற்றம் ஏற்பட்டிருக்கலாம் ஆனால் முற்றிலும் எதிர்மாறாக லீ செய்த வேலை ஒன்று இருக்கின்றது. University of Washington க்கு சென்று philosophy கற்றுக்கொண்டதுதான் அது.அங்கு தற்காப்புக்கலைகளைப்பற்றியும் படித்து அறிந்துகொண்டார்.இவைதான் லீக்கு தனியே ஒரு தற்காப்புக்கலை பாடசாலை ஒன்றை திறப்பதகு உதவியாக இருந்தது.
YMCA இல் புரூஸ்லீ பயிற்சி எடுத்துக்கொண்டிருக்கும்போது லீயின் மீது எரிச்சல் கொண்ட ஒருவர் லீயை சண்டைக்கு அழைத்திருக்கின்றார்.அவர் judoவில் blackbelt வாங்கியவர்.சில வாரங்களின் பின் மோதுவதற்கு லீ சம்மதித்தார்.Jesse Raymond Glover என்பவர் அந்த மோதலிற்கு referee ஆக நியமிக்கப்பட்டிருந்தார். f. Bruce may have been good, but he was still only human. Some people do have extraordinarily hard bones, others more muscle fibers, different structures and metabolic rates. The cyclist Lance Armstrong, who has won the Tour de France many times has a heart a third bigger than normal, and his resting rate is only 32- half the average... Lance may be an exception but most advantages are quantifiable- as Bruce would say - "There is no effective segment of a totality".

Though I presume Bruce worked towards an ideal weight, muscle size e.t.c for ultimate efficiency- considering the force he could employ. He could send people twice his weight into the air with a one inch punch, a stuntman man (in Way of the Dragon) claimed taking his kicks felt like being hit by a car (and he had been hit by a real car once), and he once dislocated a man's shoulder when punching his pad.

No style, one must adapt to his/her opponent. Even his own creation Jute Keen Do is not intended to be the ultimate way of fighting; only a method of exploring yourself. Bruce did say however to 'absorb what is useful, reject what is not and apply what is essentially your own.'

The most neglected element of martial arts for student participation. Bruce believed to a large extent that skills in martial arts could be cultivated through passion, hard work and creativity. He explored many methods of training such as isometrics, weight training and circuit training. But first on his daily workouts was "mental training"- meditation, for instance. He rarely spoke publicly about this.
